Double-Sided Gatehouse Mural
This custom front-and-back gatehouse mural was designed to tell two connected stories, one for the street and one for the homeowner.
Facing the street, a bold hot-pink door is the focal point. A well-dressed gentleman stands knocking, holding a bouquet of red roses behind his back. Watching him closely are the family’s four beloved pets, along with familiar furry visitors, a playful, personal detail that adds warmth and character.
On the inside, the narrative shifts. Viewed from the client’s front patio, the mural opens to a tranquil Sunshine Coast beach scene. A garden path leads from her own greenery towards the ocean, creating the illusion that her garden flows directly to the shore. The surrounding plants and flowers were painted from photographs of her real garden, allowing the artwork to blend seamlessly with the existing frangipani leaning into the mural. Beyond the path, surfers wait for waves, including a dynamic figure inspired by a local reference, while a pelican glides overhead. On the horizon sits Old Woman’s Island, grounding the mural in a recognisable Sunshine Coast landmark.
The result is a space that transforms depending on where you stand, romance and storytelling on one side, coastal serenity on the other. One very pleased client now enjoys her evening G&Ts with an uninterrupted view of the beach.

The greenery and flowers that hug the path, etc were all original from my garden. My garden actually flows into the gatehouse.
