Matter of Time, 2019

Performance.

Duration 2 hours and 45 minutes.

'Matter of Time' tackles the pressing issues of climate change. With A bowling ball sized ice ball she walks 2 kilometers the ball of ice melts and stains her all white black. The raising of the ball expresses the pressing issues of the polution, the oil, the greed, the plastic in our oceans. As the ball hits the water the warm water melts the outer layer of the ice faster and a rock reveals itself from within the ball of ice. The rock was collected by Mieke the day prior and is in a way returning the rock, but placing it several meters up higher on the shore where in approx. 20 years time the water line will be due to the rising oceans. The work was heavily influenced by the experience she recently had at the Artist in residence with Draw to Perform in Brighton UK.

With special thansk to Larissa Salton for the photography and Carolyna Lovely for filming the performance.
