African Wildlife Mural – Poolside Airbnb Retreat
This African-themed mural transforms a Sunshine Coast poolside studio into a magical wildlife retreat. Expanding on a previous kids’ room mural, the design wraps three-quarters of the Airbnb, spanning behind the bed, above the sliding doors to the pool, and around the corner of the kitchenette.
The mural integrates seamlessly with a custom-installed tree branch in the corner. Its canopy stretches across the walls and ceiling above the bed, creating the feeling of sleeping beneath an African tree. Wildlife is painted throughout: a sugar glider peaks from a hollow of the tree, a pangolin and a tortoise rest near the bed, banded mongooses explore, and a giraffe carries a bird on its back. A cheetah mother and cubs lounge among rocks, a warthog grazes near a watering hole, a hippo emerges from the water, elephants roam in the distance, an African jacana walks across lily pads, and a guinea fowl and zebras watch from the shade. A hornbill perches above the kitchenette on the branch, bringing the space to life.
This immersive environment transforms the room into an African retreat, enhancing the guest experience with a sense of wonder, peace, and connection to nature. The mural complements thoughtful wood detailing and homey touches, creating a unique, captivating interior.
