Buderim Croquet Club
Jump Shot
From the Croquet ground in Buderim, you can enjoy sweeping views of the skies above. Inspired by the most stunning and colourful sunsets that have graced the skies over the past couple of months, the mural features warm colours and dynamic forms. To entice more women to join the game, a female player is represented in the mural. I used a dynamic composition of the game in play, with the wooden mallet hitting a Jump Shot, the coloured balls, the hoop, and all the critical central peg, to create an engaging scene.
Location: Syd Lingard Drive, Buderim
“The Headland-Buderim Croquet Club is situated on a busy road, with the side wall of the clubhouse facing traffic. Needing to raise the club's profile, a mural was proposed for the clubhouse wall to promote croquet and attract attention from passers-by.
Local mural painter Mieke van den Berg was recommended and approached by the committee. The whole experience from beginning to end was very positive. From our initial meeting with Mieke, throwing around ideas for the mural, to the concept photographs, showing exactly how the mural would look, to the final execution, Mieke was always helpful, ready to adjust and modify where requested.
Mieke met with council representatives and produced an excellent submission, ensuring that everything was done in accordance with Council requirements. She completed the work on schedule and absolutely to our specifications. We could not be happier with our experience and would recommend Mieke to anyone considering a similar project.”
