Buderim Primary School – PERKS Stairwell Mural

This vibrant stairwell mural was created for Buderim Primary School as a daily visual reminder of the school’s core values: Positivity, Empathy, Resilience, Kindness, and Self-awareness, captured in the acronym PERKS.

The bold, nature-inspired design centres on a macro view of the Banksia, a native plant of the region. Symbolising strength, growth, and connection to place, the Banksia becomes both a botanical feature and a metaphor for students’ development.

The composition is full of motion and energy. Bright, dynamic blues sweep through the abstract background, while warm reds, oranges, and yellows bring the stylised Banksias to life. The layered forms create a sense of movement as students travel up and down the stairs, transforming an everyday transition space into a meaningful and uplifting journey.

Designed to energise and inspire, the mural blends educational purpose with strong visual impact, embedding the school’s values directly into the fabric of the environment.
