Trish’s Kitchen

This bespoke mural for Trish’s Kitchen was conceived as an intimate, celebratory portrait, inspired by classical French kitchen paintings and still-life traditions. The work centres on the client, portrayed reclining in her birth clothes and surrounded by an abundant arrangement of fruit, cheese, white wine, and other indulgent produce, evoking sensuality, nourishment, and timeless domestic elegance.

Before painting, a series of life studies was conducted in the client’s home, enabling meticulous observation, compositional refinement, and the development of a painterly realism grounded in direct study. Reference photography supported the process, ensuring depth, accuracy, and subtle detail. Executed on panels, it allowed me to complete it in the studio before installation, followed by on-site refinements to ensure seamless integration into the kitchen space.

The final work blends portraiture with still-life, transforming a domestic interior into a space of celebration, intimacy, and abundance. Drawing on classical art traditions while remaining deeply personal, the mural transforms Trish’s Kitchen into a unique, immersive environment that reflects the client’s individuality and the luxurious, painterly quality of commissioned mural art.
